Before you add your first block of Adsense  you will need to click on the Monetize tab in your blog to tell Blogger the details of your Adsense account.

Then click on the Layout tab and add a Gadget.  Choose Adsense from the list of gadgets.

Decide on the size and colours for your Adsense.

A Word of Warning

NEVER click on your own Adsense ads.  Google will BAN your account and you will lose any money in it.  They know the IP address of your computer.

Also – NEVER ask your friends and family to click.  Google monitor for click fraud – multiple clicks from the same location could also get your account banned.

It isn’t worth it.  Just wait for real visitors to find your site and click on the ads because they are genuinely interested.

One of the keys to earning money from a blog is to post to it regularly.  If you post regularly Google will see your blog as active and this will help your blog to get found.

How to improve your search engine ranking is a huge subject.  We will look at it a little bit at a time, as this blog grows.  For now, just remember that posting regularly to your blog is good.

Also, remember to add “labels” to each of your blogger posts.  These are the keywords for your post and will help Google to index your blog and find it.

Head over to Blogger.com and  sign up for a free account and start a blog.  Try to pick a subject you know something about or something you are interested in.  Google will send you an email – remember to CLICK ON THE LINK to verify your account so that you don’t lose your blog.

It doesn’t matter at all if you change your mind later – you can delete your blog and start again.

At this stage, you just want to get the feel of what it is like to run a website or blog.

When you’ve set up your blog, come back here and I’ll start telling you how to “monetise” it.  You are at the start of a long road.  There are several courses that show you how to start earning money online in 30 days.  That’s the sort of timescale you should be looking at – although if you are feeling fuzzy headed or in a relapse, it will take longer.

Just work when you can.
